Description

Delicate almond-flavored cookies shaped like crescents and rolled in powdered sugar, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup (16 Tbsp; 226g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 2/3 cup (133g) granulated sugar
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 and 1/3 cups (292g) all-purpose flour (spooned & leveled)
  • 1 tablespoon (8g) cornstarch
  • 3/4 cup (75g) very finely chopped almonds
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup (90g) confectioners’ sugar

Instructions

  1. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until smooth and creamy, about 3 minutes.
  3. Add vanilla and almond extracts; beat until combined.
  4. Add flour, cornstarch, almonds, and salt; mix until a thick dough forms.
  5. Scoop 1 tablespoon of dough and shape into a crescent. Place on the lined baking sheet and repeat.
  6. Refrigerate shaped cookies for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  8. Bake cookies until golden brown on the edges, about 14–16 minutes.
  9. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack.
  10. Roll cookies in confectioners’ sugar to coat completely before serving.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week. For longer storage, freeze in a single layer and transfer to a freezer-safe container, lasting about 2–3 months.
