Description

A simple and delicious recipe for homemade yeast bread that anyone can make.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 and 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Add the olive oil and salt to the yeast mixture.
  3. Gradually stir in the flour until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough and shape it. Place it in a greased loaf pan.
  7. Cover and let it rise again for about 30 minutes.
  8. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

For added flavor, try mixing in herbs or cheese into the dough before baking.
