Ingredients

- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 and 1/2 cups warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Add the olive oil and salt to the yeast mixture.
- Gradually stir in the flour until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and shape it. Place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Cover and let it rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
For added flavor, try mixing in herbs or cheese into the dough before baking.
