Description

These Holiday Cookies are a simple crowd-pleaser that are soft on the inside and slightly crisp on the edge, perfect for gifts or quick treats.


Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  4. Beat in the salt, vanilla extract, and eggs until the mix is light and a bit fluffy.
  5. Gradually mix in the flour mixture until you have a soft dough.
  6. Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts, if you are using them.
  7. Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans, leaving space between each cookie.
  8. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes in the preheated oven. Watch for the edges to turn light golden.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to finish cooling.

Notes

These cookies hold up well for transport and can be easily doubled or cut in half. They are best served warm with a glass of milk or coffee.
