Description

A delicious and hearty classic Italian lasagna made with layers of pasta, rich meat sauce, creamy béchamel, and gooey cheese.


Ingredients

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 cups béchamel sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; sauté until softened.
  4. Add ground beef and pork to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned. Stir in marinara sauce and let simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. In a baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce at the bottom. Place a layer of noodles on top, followed by a layer of ricotta cheese, béchamel, and a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese.
  6. Repeat the layering process until all ingredients are used, finishing with béchamel and remaining mozzarella on top.
  7. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese and fresh basil over the top layer.
  8. Bake for 45 minutes until golden and bubbly. Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, replace meat with sautéed vegetables like zucchini and mushrooms.
