Description

A simple, smooth, and sweet vanilla icing perfect for cakes, cupcakes, cookies, or bars.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup (120g) confectioners’ sugar, sifted
  • 23 tablespoons (30-45ml) milk or heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • optional: pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Measure the confectioners’ sugar and sift it into a bowl.
  2. Add 2 tablespoons of milk or heavy cream and the vanilla extract to the sugar.
  3. Whisk well until the mixture is smooth, adding more milk as necessary to reach pourable consistency.
  4. If too thin, add more sifted confectioners’ sugar until desired thickness is reached.
  5. Taste and add a pinch of salt if desired.
  6. Use immediately or cover and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.

Notes

For a thicker icing, add more confectioners’ sugar. For flavor variations, try adding citrus zest or different extracts.
