Description

Simple, small cookies with a soft crumb, light sweetness, and a festive dusting of powdered sugar that captures the spirit of the holiday season.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, mixing until just combined.
  5. Roll the dough into small balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges start to turn golden.
  8. Allow to cool completely, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For variations, try adding lemon or almond extract or mixing in finely chopped nuts. Chill the dough if it’s too soft for easier rolling.
