Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 egg yolk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8-inch baking pan.
  2. Combine melted butter and granulated sugar in a mixing bowl and whisk until blended.
  3. Add in the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
  4. Sprinkle the cocoa powder, flour, and salt into the wet mixture and gently stir until just combined.
  5. Beat the softened cream cheese in a separate bowl until smooth, then add powdered sugar and egg yolk, mixing until creamy.
  6. Pour half of the brownie batter into the baking pan and spread evenly.
  7. Spoon the cream cheese mixture over the brownie layer, spreading gently.
  8. Top with remaining brownie batter and swirl lightly with a knife.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  10. Cool for 10 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before cutting into squares.
