- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate
- Fresh strawberries for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a cake pan.
- Mix together the flour, cocoa powder, and sugar in a bowl.
- Cream the unsalted butter until creamy, then add the eggs one at a time, mixing well.
- Add the vanilla extract and milk to the mixture, stirring until smooth.
- Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients until just combined. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, then allow the cake to cool completely.
- Prepare the mousse by melting semi-sweet chocolate and allowing it to cool slightly.
- Whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form, then gently fold in the cooled chocolate.
- Layer the mousse on top of the cooled cake for a smooth and even layer.
- Make the ganache by melting semi-sweet chocolate with heavy cream until smooth.
- Pour the ganache over the mousse layer, allowing it to seep into the edges.
- Chill the assembled dessert in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
- Garnish with fresh strawberries before serving.
Notes
For best results, use high-quality chocolate and make sure ingredients are at room temperature. Avoid overmixing the batter.
