Description

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the crust by combining flour and powdered sugar, then cutting in the softened butter.
  3. Stir in the egg yolk until the dough forms.
  4. Shape the crusts by rolling out the dough and cutting into rounds for tartlet pans.
  5. Bake the crusts for about 15 minutes until golden.
  6. Make the custard filling by heating milk and whisking sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolk.
  7. Thicken the custard in the saucepan until creamy.
  8. Flavor the custard with vanilla extract.
  9. Assemble the tartlets with custard in the cooled shells.
  10. Garnish with fresh strawberry slices just before serving.
