Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8-inch square baking pan.

- Combine wet ingredients: whisk sugar, eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl until smooth.
- Combine dry and wet mixtures, stirring gently until just combined; do not overmix.
- Bake the batter in the prepared pan for 25-30 minutes, until edges pull away but center is slightly underbaked.
- Cool the cake for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before cutting.
