Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with liners.
- Mix dry ingredients: whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Combine wet ingredients: mix oil, buttermilk, eggs, red food coloring, vanilla, and vinegar until smooth.
- Add the wet mixture to the dry mixture and stir until just combined.
- Optional: Fold in chocolate chips for added flavor.
- Fill the cupcake liners about 2/3 full with batter.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool the cupcakes in the pan, then frost with cream cheese frosting and decorate with sprinkles.
Notes
For a deeper red color, use high-quality red food coloring. Store in an airtight container.
