Description

Delightful homemade churros with a golden, crisp exterior and a soft, chewy inside, perfect for dipping.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • Vegetable oil for deep frying
  • Nutella (melted chocolate, or caramel sauce)

Instructions

  1. Combine the water, unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and salt in a saucepan. Bring this mixture to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the all-purpose flour until a dough forms. Let it cool for about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing until the dough is smooth. Optional: stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star-shaped tip.
  5. Pipe the dough into 1 to 2-inch strips on a parchment-lined baking sheet, cutting with scissors.
  6. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 350°F.
  7. Drop churros into the hot oil in batches, frying for about 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  8. Remove churros and drain on paper towels, tossing them warm in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar.
  9. Serve warm with Nutella, melted chocolate, or caramel sauce for dipping.

Notes

Store leftover churros in an airtight container with a paper towel at room temperature for optimal freshness.
