Description
A timeless dessert made with fresh strawberries, fluffy shortcakes, and creamy whipped topping, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 cups whipped cream (or heavy cream to whip)
- 2 cups biscuit or shortcake mix
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare the strawberries: Start by slicing the fresh strawberries and placing them in a bowl. Sprinkle the sugar over the strawberries and gently toss them. Let them sit for about 10 minutes.
- Preheat the oven according to the biscuit or shortcake mix package instructions.
- Make the shortcakes: Prepare the biscuit or shortcake mix in a large bowl according to the package instructions. Add in the milk and the teaspoon of vanilla extract for extra flavor. Blend everything together until just combined.
- Bake the shortcakes: Pour the shortcake mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Spread it out evenly and bake until golden brown, about 10-15 minutes. Once baked, take them out and let them cool.
- Slice the shortcakes: Cut them in half horizontally to create a base for your strawberries and whipped cream.
- Assemble: On the bottom half of each shortcake, spoon some of the fresh strawberries along with their juices. Top it with a generous dollop of whipped cream and place the top half of the shortcake on top.
- Serve: Enjoy your strawberry shortcake with extra strawberries and whipped cream on top.
